Description
Four fire control stations (FCS) stand on a hill above the artillery batteries at Fort Casey. The stations were built between 1904 and 1908. The two FCS on the left were built low to the ground to avoid potential attacks from vessels in Puget Sound. The two center and upper right were round to deflect incoming shells. All four have steel doors to cover window spaces. The structures housed sighting apparatuses to provide targeting information to the batteries. Fort Casey was part of the Triangle of Fire Coast Artillery emplacements that protected the entrance to Puget Sound. April, 2021.
