Description
Battery Trevor houses two 3-inch guns on barbette pedestal carriages. The guns overlook the Fort Casey-Port Townsend ferry dock. The original 3-inch rifles at Battery Trevor were transferred to the Coast Artillery in May, 1907. Those guns were removed and sent to the Philippines in November, 1933. The 3-inch guns displayed now were obtained from the Philippines in 1960. Both guns are battle-scarred and missing the breech blocks which were thrown into the sea at the beginning of WW II to avoid enemy use. Fort Casey was part of the Triangle of Fire Coast Artillery emplacements that protected the entrance to Puget Sound. April, 2021.
