Description
Battery Van Horne is directly west of the row of enlisted barracks at Fort Casey. The battery mounted two 3" guns which remained active until the end of WW II, when they were removed. The battery was named after Capt Isaac Van Horne Jr who was killed in action at For Mackinac, MI, in 1814. Fort Casey was part of Triangle of Fire coast artillery that protected Admiralty Inlet and the mouth of Puget Sound. November 2021.
