Description
The Baker River flows down from Shannon Lake and passes under the historic Henry Thompson Bridge, a concrete arch bridge that was built in 1916, and rehabbed in 2004. The Henry Thompson once carried old State Route 20. Below that bridge the river churns over a low waterfall that is part of the Baker River Hydroelectric Project that peeks through the changing leaves on the right. Closer to the camera, a tall concrete pillar stands in that river, on the left. The pillar supported a rail bridge, now gone, that was used by the Seattle and Northern, and then the Great Northern, railways that traveled through the small town of Concrete. October, 2020.
