Description
Salmon swimming up the Columbia River to spawn need to bypass a series of hydroelectric dams to reach the creek or stream where they were born. They can swim past the dams using a fish ladder, such as this one at Bonneville Dam. Fish ladders are made of a series of short steps that enable the salmon to bypass the dam. July 2016.
