Description
The WT Preston was the third and last snagboat funded by Congress and operated by the Corps of Engineers to clear Puget Sound rivers of obstructions that endangered the boats that carried passengers and freight inland. The Preston was first floated in 1929. The steam powered sternwheeler used a 70-foot boom and a 1 1/2 cubic yard scoop to remove driftwood and other hazards. She carried a full-time crew of up to 15 who lived on board. She retired to an Anacortes museum in 1982. May, 2021.
