At a bend in the Nooksack, a gravel beach offered a good vantage point for Ski to Sea race watchers to sit in lawn chairs and watch a canoe team pass by. One young watcher felt it was a good day to go wading in the river. The canoe leg of the Memorial Weekend Ski to Sea race paddles down the Nooksack River from Riverside Park in Everson to Hovander Park in Ferndale.
