Description
Post Office Court and Customs House in Port Townsend. Washington's official Port of Entry was moved to Port Townsend from Olympia in 1854. The first Customs House, including the customs records, was swept to sea in a flood in December, 1863. This sandstone building was completed March 1, 1893. The building sits across Washington Street from the top of a steep bluff above downtown Port Townsend and Port Townsend Bay. October, 2022.
