Rain clouds shade the Chama River Valley where a section of US 84 near Tierra Amarilla honors PFC Jose F Valdez who died in France in World War II. PFC Valdez' Medal of Honor citation states, in part, that he was wounded while offering covering fire for his patrol that had been surrounded by two companies of German soldiers. He subsequently died of his wounds. September, 2018.
