Artist's Description

Thompson Trail runs from downtown Anacortes, along Fidalgo Bay, and out on a causeway to March's Point where the big oil refineries live. Just before a visitor reaches the causeway, this madrona decorates the path. They are called madrones farther south on the Pacific Coast. This shot is in late October. The madronas retain the smooth, red and tan bark year round. October, 2016.
