The Lower Falls of the Spokane River play and frolic over massive basalt boulders, remnants of ancient volcanic eruptions. As the river begins to calm, it passes beneath the middle arch of the Monroe Street Bridge. The concrete deck arch bridge is 136 feet high. The lower plaza of Huntington Park is beyond the falls. Four lavender gondolas of the SkyRide Over the Falls are riding a cable that stretches under the arch to the north shore of the river and back up to Riverfront Park. An azure sky covers Spokane in late July.
