South of historic downtown Ferndale and across the Nooksack River rests the Hovander Homestead Park. The focus of the Whatcom County park is the Hovander Homestead farm that includes a six-room, two story house built in 1903 and a 60 foot high barn, completed in 1911. The still working farm nestles in a curve of the river, and spreads across 350 acres of fertile land. The Hovanders immigrated from Sweden, and the house and barn share Swedish artifacts and influences. Everything on the farm is green and growing in mid July.
Welcome to my Vagabond Photography site. Much of my work is shot in Washington state, though I also wander other places in the western US and in southern British Columbia. I hope you enjoy the images of the places, things, and people that are displayed here. Vagabond Photography means seeking interesting, fun, remarkable sights, being a will-o'-the-wisp in search of the unusual, the beautiful, the engaging, and the truly awe inspiring. Perhaps you'd like to join me on my journeys. Welcome to my corner of the world! Welcome to Vagabond Photography, vagabonding (wandering) across the Pacific Northwest.
