Fort Victoria 1843 Plaque. A plaque with a portrait of Queen Victoria describes the founding of Fort Victoria, a trading post established by the Hudson's Bay Company in 1843. The plaque is a block from the site of the former fort on the north shore of the Inner Harbour. The Fraser River gold rush in 1858 brought thousands of miners needing supplies, resulting in the development of the town of Victoria. March, 2024.
