The Ski to Sea Race speeds across Whatcom County each Memorial Weekend Sunday, from snow-covered Mt Baker at 10.781 feet to Bellingham Bay at sea level. Teams include skiers, road cyclists, and canoe paddlers, among other sports. The cyclist leg ends and the canoe leg begins at Everson. Canoeists carry their canoes across a rocky island to the Nooksack River, following a trail of orange cones.
