North Fork of the Skykomish snakes through a narrow, fir-lined canyon near the village o Index in the western hills of the North Cascades. A fisher, viewed from the 5th Street bridge, is a tiny dot, lower right. Index is hidden away, a mile from US 2, the Stevens Pass Highway. August, 2022.
