Hozomeen Mountain is crowned by two jagged spires, left of center and center. Desolation Peak is a little lower, a rounded dome that appears to stand between the spires of Hozomeen. Desolation Peak is the site of a Forest Service fire lookout where Jack Kerouac lived two months in the summer of 1956. Kerouac wrote *The Dharma Bums* about his experience. May, 2022.
