Description
Pine-clad hills ring the Valles Caldera under towering clouds in early September. The Caldera, a 13.7 mile wide bowl in the Jemez Mountains of northern New Mexico, was formed by a massive volcano roughly 1.2 million years ago. Valles Caldera is the newest National Preserve in the US Park Service in 2000. Grassland, hot springs, open spaces and mountains are now used for recreation, ranching, and education. September 2018.
