Always Open. The gate to the Santuario de Chimayo is always open, welcoming weary travelers and faithful pilgrims seeking respite. The little plastic bags on the wall contain small electric lights, a modern version of small candles in pots or, later, paper bags. They are farolitos, little torches, used to guide the way. November, 2015.
