The Hole n" the Rock (that's how the sign on the rock is painted) rest stop is 16 miles south of Moab on US 191. Early in the morning on a bright day at the end of August, the sun rises above pink rocks at the rest stop, painting a cottonwood branch gold, and promising a splendid day. Traveling West. August, 2018.
