The sun sneaks through a thick layer of gray, dark clouds and drizzly rain, touching the tips of fir trees on the hillside just below the Diablo Lake Overlook, and creating a rainbow arc, resplendent in the colors of a rainy autumn mountain. Diablo Lake is nestled high in the North Cascades, created by Diablo Dam, a hydroelectric project of Seattle City Light. A hint of Diablo Lake is in the lower left corner of the image. The Ross Lake National Recreational Area, which includes Gorge Lake, Diablo Lake, and Ross Lake is in Whatcom County, connected by State Route 20 with the high reaches and dusty hills of Okanogan County to the east. November, 2018.
Welcome to my Vagabond Photography site. Much of my work is shot in Washington state, though I also wander other places in the western US and in southern British Columbia. I hope you enjoy the images of the places, things, and people that are displayed here. Vagabond Photography means seeking interesting, fun, remarkable sights, being a will-o'-the-wisp in search of the unusual, the beautiful, the engaging, and the truly awe inspiring. Perhaps you'd like to join me on my journeys. Welcome to my corner of the world! Welcome to Vagabond Photography, vagabonding (wandering) across the Pacific Northwest.
