Artist's Description

Semiahmoo Resort was a salmon cannery for many years. Sitting at the end of the mile long Semiahmoo spit, the cannery was well situated for the fishing fleet that anchored at Blaine, to the right of the image across Drayton Harbor. This mossy, weathered old pier, deteriorated and rotting from exposure, extends from one of the old cannery buildings towards the shore. The gray building beyond the end of the pier was also one of the cannery buildings. It is now a restaurant serving delicious food.
