West of the Florida River (pronounced locally as Flaw-REE-da), a barbed wire fence line parallels US 160, near Colorado Highway 172. This is farming and ranching country, high enough for a dusting of snow two days after Thanksgiving, 2019. The snow-capped 14,000 foot plus peaks on the far horizon rise west of Durango. Ranch grass is yellow and brown under a hazy, Colorado blue sky. November, 2019.
