The Bellingham and Skagit Interurban Railway, an electric railroad, traveled 27 miles south from downtown Bellingham, along the coast of Samish Bay, to a depot on the Skagit River in Mt Vernon. The Interurban Railway ran from 1912 to 1930. Only a mile or so of track remains, this section is in Mt Vernon. The three rusty tracks, left and center, are the remnant of that historic railway. The two on left also end a short distance behind the camera. The BNSF track, which is still active, is on the right. October, 2020.
