Description
The Angel Peak Scenic Area is 15 miles southeast of Bloomfield, New Mexico, a part of the San Juan Basin Badlands, in the northwest corner of the state. The Scenic Area is crosshatched by dry arroyos that carve the sandstone mesas into strange, otherworldly structures. The San Juan and Ute Mountain Ranges in Colorado overlook the area from the north. In late July, clouds build across the arid land, harbingers of the monsoon season that will soon cause the arroyos to run with dangerous flash floods.
