Description
The Celilo Falls were a series of rapids and short waterfalls used for spearing and netting salmon by native fishers for hundreds of years. Farmers from the East prevailed upon the government to build dams for irrigation water and hydro power. The Dalles Dam, one of a series of dams on the Columbia, flooded the native fishing site. The rolling hills of Washington are on the far side of the River. May, 2017.
