Artist's Description

Symbolic of Blaine's history, The Vigil is a sculpture on Blaine's public deck, overlooking Drayton Harbor and Semiahmoo Bay. A grandmother, a mother, her son, and the boy's dog, in bag hanging by his side, wait expectantly for the fishing fleet to return from the Pacific and Puget Sound. Robert McDermott is the sculptor. The red scarves were added by a visitor concerned by the chill in the air in March, 2020.
