The Samish River empties into Samish Bay a few miles west of Edison, Washington, after winding slowly through the farmland of western Skagit County. Near the mouth of the River, white cruisers and sail boats are docked along the river bank. A weathered pier, reflected in the place river, is tied to pilings to provide access to the river boats. The skeleton of a weathered fishing boat sinks into the mud on the first day of spring.
