Deception Pass State Park is 10 miles south of Anacortes on SR 20. The park bridges the watery pass between Fidalgo Island and Whidbey Island. West Beach of the Deception Park is strewn with weathered, sea-smoothed driftwood, a welcoming sandy beach, warmed by the sun in mid-August. Deception Island peeks through the moss-draped branches of a tree snag that overlooks the beach and the outlet of the pass. August, 2019.
