Description
Wenatchee Reclamation Ditch carries irrigation water to the dry slopes and benches of Wenatchee and East Wenatchee. A walking path parallels it for long stretches. The ditch, which was hand dug and completed in 1903, draws water from the Wenatchee River at Dryden and carries water by gravity feed, no pumps, 34 miles through the High Line Canal to the Wenatchee Ditch, across the Wenatchee River, through Wenatchee, by pipe on a bridge built for the purpose across the Columbia River, through East Wenatchee, to Rock Island. This image shows a section in East Wenatchee, looking north, near Eastmont High School. May, 2021.
