Description
This plaque, erected by Boy Scout Troop 89 on October 22, 2011, describes the pedestrian bridge that crosses the Columbia between Wenatchee and East Wenatchee. The first bridge across the Columbia south of the Canada border, it was built as a toll bridge to carry horses, people, and an irrigation pipe that brought water to East Wenatchee orchards. The plaque states that the toll for a round trip for a horse and buggy was 25c, but crossing at faster than a walk would result in a $25.00 fine. April,2021.
