Description
A concrete cylinder, half buried in the gravel of the Oregon shoreline of the Columbia River, anchors and supports a tall transmission tower. More towers march to the horizon on the dusty eastern Washington shore. The towers transmit hydroelectric power from the McNary Dam, just upriver, to the right of this image. The twin bridges, the far one is steel, the near one is concrete, collectively called the Umatilla Bridge, arch over the broad Columbia at the left. A deep azure sky is cloudless soon after sunrise of a late July morning. July, 2019.
