Description
A tragic landslide on March 22, 2014, carried tons of mud and other debris down this mountainside east of Oso, Washington. The slide blocked the North Fork of the Stillaguamish River causing severe flooding, and, most terribly, ended the lives of 43 men, women, and children in the rural area below the slide. This shot, six years after the tragedy, gives some sense of scale. The spring green fir trees atop the slide are probably 30 or 40 feet tall. May, 2020.
