Description
Thousands of years before the original wooden Gorge Dam was constructed in 1921 to impound the Skagit River, the narrow, steep-sided Skagit River Gorge was a pathway through the mountains for members of the prehistoric Upper Skagit Tribe. The wooden dam was later replaced by the concrete Gorge High Dam in 1961. April, 2022.
