Description
The Skagit River was impounded by the Gorge Dam to form Gorge Lake in the narrow, steep-walled canyon named Skagit River Gorge. Stretching from the modern site of Newhalem up to Ross Lake, the gorge was carved by glaciers during multiple ice ages and by powerful water flows as each field of glaciers melted. March, 2019.
