Description
Skagit River at Lyman Slough. An arm of the Skagit River sparkles in the afternoon sun as it rounds a bend in the Lyman Slough Conservation Area. Lyman is a small town (pop 438 in 2010) tucked between the Skagit River and State Route 20, 14 miles east of Burlington. The Lyman Slough Conservation Area, about 19 acres, is owned and managed by the Skagit Land Trust. The riverbank has been eroded recently by floodwaters, and the shore line on the left and the foreground has been declared unsafe. Autumn leaves freckle the riverbank under a clear, blue sky.
