Description
A life-size bronze statue of Sacagawea points to the western horizon, downriver along the Columbia River. Sacagawea reaches over her shoulder to comfort her son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau. Sacagawea aided the Lewis and Clark expedition in communicating with indigenous tribes from North Dakota to the coast and back. She is joined by Seaman, Captain Meriwether Lewis' Newfoundland, the only animal to complete the journey to the coast and back with the Corps of Discovery. The sculptures are in Marine Park at Cascade locks. Gray clouds ride the river in late July.
