Description
The Parker House was built in 1877, across the Nooksack River from Pioneer Park. It was dismantled and moved to Ferndale's Pioneer Park in 1979 without taking photos or sketching the house. The Ferndale Parks Director reassembled it from memory in one month. The house now serves as s general store for Pioneer Village. The blackboard on the left offers ice cream, soda pop, penny candy and antiques. The Pepsi sign on the right is a more recent addition from the 20th century. Summer workers repair a stone walk in front of the store. Summer workers value work as much as full time workers.
