Description
March 22, 2014, 10:37 a.m. four miles east of the small community of Oso, Washington, a mudslide tore away the side of this hill, burying 43 people in mud, trees, rocks, and other debris. The slide deposited mud 30 to 70 feet deep and more than a mile square, destroying over 40 buildings, the North Fork of the Stillaguamish River, and State Route 503. A memorial to those who lost their lives is being constructed near the site of the slide. March, 2020.
