Description
A historic turbine runner, a water wheel on its side, serves in its retirement as planter in the visitors' parking lot in Newhalem, the company town built by Seattle City Light to service the Gorge Powerhouse and the three dams of the Skagit River Hydroelectric Project. The turbine runner weights 14,000 pounds, and was in use for 36 years until 1994. April, 2022.
