Description
Gorge Dam was completed in 1924 and increased to 300 feet high in 1961. The dam, built by Seattle City Light to create hydroelectric power for the Seattle area, is the lowest and smallest of three dams that impound the Skagit River. Gorge Dam is nine miles east of Newhalem, constructed in a narrow gorge between steep granite walls. May, 2022.
