Description
The Fort Worden flag pole stands tall on the parade ground between officers' residences and enlisted barracks. Officers' Row is on the far side of the parade. At the base of the flagpole, bronze plaques on three large rocks describe the fort's history. The fort was included on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. Two 12', armor piercing, artillery shells are at the base of the flagpole. Fort Worden was part of the Triangle of Fire Coast Artillery emplacements that protected the entrance to Puget Sound.
