Description
Entrance to Oso Slide Memorial. On March, 22, 2014, at 10:37 AM, a massive slide of mud and debris roared down the slopes on the north side of the North Fork Stillaguamish River, damming the river temporarily, and covering a mile square of the valley, ten, twenty, and more feet deep. In seconds, 43 children, women, and men, in some cases entire families, were interred by the tragic event. Stone walls, and sturdy cedar shelters and kiosks remember the lives lost and tell the stories of the efforts to rescue them. In addition to the 43 lives lost, 11 more were rescued. June, 2024.
