Isaac Ebey was the first person of European descent to settle on Whidbey Island, arriving in 1850. Ebey's Landing National Historic Reserve includes a stretch of the western shoreline of Whidbey Island, nearby Fort Casey and Fort Casey State Park, and the wide, fertile farmland of Ebey's Prairie in this image, south of Coupeville, as well as the town of Coupeville, and Penn Cove.
