Description
A 10" disappearing gun mounted at Battery Worth has been depressed below the battery parapet. Called a disappearing gun because it could be lowered to protect gun and crew from naval bombardment, disappearing guns were considered the best artillery technology at the time they were transferred to the coast artillery in 1902. The original guns were scrapped in 1942. These are replacements brought from the Philippines in 1967 for display. Fort Casey was part of the coast artillery Triangle of Fire that protected Puget Sound. November, 2021.
