Artist's Description
Umatilla is a small town on the Oregon shore of the Columbia River, just downriver from the McNary Dam. Two bridges, collectively known as the Umatilla Bridge, carry I-82/US 395 traffic south on a steel through truss cantilever bridge, opened in 1955, and substantially repaired and reopened in June, 2019. Northbound vehicle traffic and pedestrian traffic is carried on a concrete arch bridge that was opened in 1988. Hydropower electric transmission towers can be seen on the Washington shore through the arches. The late July sky was crystal clear in the early morning. July, 2019.
