Description
The Nisqually Wildlife Refuge was the Brown family working farm at the turn of the twentieth century. The farm was donated to the state of Washington. These barns were part of the original farm. September, 2016. Billy Frank Jr was a member of the Nisqually tribe, a leader in the Washington environmental movement, an advocate for Native American salmon fishing treaty rights, and a longtime chairman of the Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission. The National Refuge was named for him in 2015.
