Description
Two oil tankers prepare to unload at the refineries at March's Point near Anacortes. The top vessel in this image, the tanker Florida, is encircled by a floating boom to limit possible oil spills. The bottom tanker is tended by three tugs, two pusher tugs on the port side that are pushing the tanker towards the transfer dock, one tug is named the Protector, and a third tug, the Nancy Peterkin, at the stern. Fidalgo Bay, at the bottom of the image, and Padilla Bay, beyond the top tanker, are deep blue in early February, mirroring the blue foothills of the North Cascades. The refineries are near State Route 20. February, 2019.
