Description
A tiny frog, perhaps three inches long, is submerged to the eyeballs in the algae-covered ditch near the Visitor Center at the Billy Frank Jr Nisqually Wildlife Refuge. September, 2016. Billy Frank Jr was a member of the Nisqually tribe, a leader in the Washington environmental movement, an advocate for Native American salmon fishing treaty rights, and a longtime chairman of the Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission. The National Refuge was named for him in 2015.
