Description
Maples, firs, and other trees grow "thick as the hair on a dog" (Woody Guthrie), near Excelsior Road, along the North Branch of the Nooksack River as it winds and twists down from the North Cascades, tracing the Mt Baker Highway. Mosses drape branches and tree trunks, creating a shaggy, fuzzy green, fairy land. The natural art of trees can be magical in late August in the Washington hills and mountain ranges. August, 2017.
