Description
The ancient adobe walls of Santa Rosa de Lima, a few miles south of Abiquiu, New Mexico, are slowly melting back into the earth from which they were made. Yet some unknown persons have adorned the end of the roofless sanctuary with a crucifix, a tall cross, sacred photos, and an elk antler. Someone whose faith is not diminished by the crumbling adobe has planted roses, in a corner and at the entrance to the church, and at other sunny spots along the walls. A half full plastic water jug is tucked behind the rose bush in the corner. September, 2018.
